Only $18,300 worth.

Stimulus was about $6,500 per person, and now, with the passage of the omnibus spending bill yesterday in the house, another 11,833 per person, we are about to get the biggest deficit since WWII. One that will be 12.3% of current year GDP (I'd hate to think what the total national debt is as a % of GDP).

Where were you when Bush decimated the surplus that his administration inherited?

Well since he did sign the budgets he was partly to blame but he didn't write the spending bills. Article I section 9 of the U. S. Constitution states that congress alone has that power.

You should lay blame where blame is due.

I feel blame should go to both parties. The Democrats spent money like democrats historically have and the Republicans abandoned their conservative principles and spent like Democrats. Additionally before we start any finger pointing remember that the Democrats controlled Congress for four of the eight years. Now I can speak for experience when I say these so called surpluses came about because Bill Clinton raping our national defense. I remember parking airplanes because we didn’t have the money to support the flight hours we needed to fly. I remember a lot of squadron’s readiness levels desegregating to unacceptable levels because lack of replacement parts in the system. So justifiably a large portion of this spending went to rebuild our national defense. Now they are cutting the military’s budget again but we can afford give $4.16 billion as a payoff to acorn…sorry I mean to acorn for community development.

I don't think Bush spent $18,300 of my money in one month. Either way though, no where did I say I approved of Bush's spending. ;)

It is going to take a hell of a lot of money to get us out of the quagmire that Bush got us into.
How do you figure? So you think we should keep spending, even if it bankrupts the country? Also, even though I do not like Bush, I also do not think it is fair to him to blame the "quagmire" on Bush. Could you explain to me how Bush messed up? Or was it because Clinton signed a bill that forced mortgages companies to give loans to couples/individuals that would
otherwise be ineligible due to low income.

You should lay blame where blame is due.
I'm pretty sure I did. Maybe go back and read what I posted? I do not think Bush spent $18,300 of my money in this last month.

Take it easy and take care,
