Apparently Barrack Obama finds it more important to hang out with Celebrities than attend The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball. There were 48 M.O.H. recipients in attendance at the ball. No president, since the inception of this ball in 1953, has ever missed it. A slap in the face to M.O.H. recipients. http://www.clevelandleader.com/node/8627 |

However the certificate reads “The President of the United States of America authorized by congress has awarded in the name of the congress The Medal Of Honor.” Although authority can be delegated it would by most certainly inappropriate in this case. It is the highest military honor that can be bestowed upon an individual; most of the recipients have been awarded it posthumously. To try to give people a perspective, the award is so sacred that it’s a felony under the stolen valor act to falsely claim that one has been awarded it. Bottom line is that it was his moral duty as Commander in Chief to attend. By not attending he disrespected the Medal of Honor and every recipient that has ever received this honor. Do I think that it was a deliberate slap in the face? No I don’t. However I personally believe that he exercised poor judgment as a leader by not attending.

To give people a perspective of this (someone please correct me if I am wrong here), the CINC is required to present this medal to recipients. The reasoning behind this is, it's the HONOR OF THE PRESIDENT to bestow this medal.
So in essences he has dishonored himself, also.

It’s just disgraceful that the Commander in Chief showed such disrespect to these military heroes! For those who didn’t serve this may be no big deal. But what these men went through in order to be awarded the CMH they deserve more respect then any president or movie star. One a side note, what do you expect from a man that was touring Europe and rather to have played basketball then visit wounded service men.

I agree that poor judgment was exercised. And that says something about our country in general. Celebrities are who the public prefers to give attention to.
