Obama Won, so what?

The other day during work a co-worker decided try to dispense some paranoid dribble about how if Obama won the Presidential election that it would soon spawn the "end of days". Now far be it for me to judge anyones sanity or rational at any point of such a heated topic like politics or religion, or in this case both, but there are some conversations I believe should be avoided if at all possible. Minus my "laws of penetration" of course. * So like a good colleague I nodded in all the right places and said "uh-huh" a couple of times as he began to plead his case. All the while in-visioning Jenny McCarthy doing a slow strip tease in a darkened room that must have been insanely hot because she was sweating profusely. And just as was about to completely block this dude out with my powers of the mind and Jenny's white cotton panties that had by now become nearly transparent as she struggled to loose the beast, he hollered "That's what the Bible says!" Crap. Nothing like 1st and 2nd Corinthians to screw up a perfectly good fantasy ( although that whole "Song of Solomon" thing is pretty hot, but that's a different story). Now, I being neither of sound mind or body, and completely lacking in pragmatism, can still smell bullspunk when confronted with it's musk. And in my opinion, his fear of changed pushed him over the proverbial precipice that are found in both politics and religion. I mean, for two years all this guy and I ever talked about was thong's and skirts, now he's found Jesus? Relax my friends, a politician, will always be a politician no matter what the color. Mccain/Obama, makes no difference. They'll all be just as limp as Tom Arnold must have been on his honeymoon in 1990. * Plastic's Laws of Penetration - If you have, or are planning to have relations with this person, you will be forced to do many things you will not want to do out of the bedroom, and will be limited to only a few of the things you want to do in it. |

Plastic, you and I work together and have known each other for two years now. To start with, I am reminded of the saying, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend,” Sun Tzu.
Your remarks hit a cord with me. You wrote a very strong and dismissive retort to a conversation that was more about Sept 11th then about the Obama election. Humor is an excellent way to cut into a person’s argument, like a sharp knife cuts into a great steak. Just reference SNL and its treatment of McCain and Palin, then you will see the importance of humor. SNL shows the importance of humor in ridiculing and dismissing a person as not worthy of further consideration for anything. It is almost as effective as calling some one a racist, thereby removing them from having any future respect, importance, and showing that person as having a lack of knowledge thereby shutting them up.
I am not as worried about the Socialist path that Obama will take us down as I am about the lack of knowledge it shows the American people have.

Here is some “paranoid dribble” for you, “Neville Chamberlain believed that if he gave Hitler what he needed, Hitler would not go to war. But by signing the Munich agreement, he put Hitler’s Werhmacht within a day’s distance of the industrial and economic center of Czechoslovakia. Chamberlain declared that it was “peace in our time.”” Any one who protested were “paranoid”, ridiculed, dismissed.
“Never again”, Israel lives these words almost every day fighting the Islamic Terrorists that are supported by Iran. The same Iran that believes a “Holy War” is coming very soon. Iran has a leader who thinks this “Holy War” will end Israel, and the Great Satan, America. “Paranoid dribble” or “peace in our time”, think long and hard. Time for humor, or time to speak of “racism”, this will silence a great many on this and many other issues. Using humor and being called a racist can be effective for a short period of time. “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.” Abraham Lincoln.
“Religious Bigotry”, is any one in favor of it? These days it appears to be acceptable to ridicule, dismiss and lower the value of “People with Faith”. I do believe in God. Why do I have to defend my belief in God? Why are people with no faith, no belief in a Higher Being considered smarter then some one who believes in God?

I am happy for you Ryan that you believe that the best man won the day, but don't really think you should have waited for Obama to start becoming who you always wanted to be, that task should probably been started the second you realized your ideal self.
To put the fate of yourself, or a country in the hands of any one man is both foolish and unconstitutional. The point of the artical ( other than the humor I assume you missed ), was to point at that in all probiblity you should expect politic's as usual from a politician.

I liked everything you had to say except, "I am not as worried about the Socialist path that Obama will take us down as I am about the lack of knowledge it shows the American people have." I think conservatives would be much better served if they stopped using the "Democrats=Socialism" argument. It's old,tired, and never true. As for the lack of knowledge it shows the American people have, I know how you feel...I was on that boat for the last eight years. Enjoy the ride.
