Questioning GOP Inspiration

Among all the encouraging talk of uniting the parties, why do GOP proponents persist in discussing the strengthening of their party as if it were a militia? Following suite, who other than Jeb Bush could have such strong potential for reviving the GOP? My concern, however, is to wonder just how this will be done, exactly.

Prior to the 08 presidential election, I felt that the GOP would be the dominate party of the future. This supposition was likely based on GOP dominance of talk radio airwaves, Fox news, the appeal to "traditional" American values (an intentionally ambiguous, and therefore potentially dangerous concept), along with the large number of affiliates in my vicinity.

But since the presidential election, where Obama won with surprisingly impressive numbers and Palin looked foolish to many (---gotta love this), along with the post-election release of "Barack the Magic Negro," I was certain the GOP would finally be discounted at large, like antiquate computer software that just can't cut it with the emerging generation and perform in the latest operating environments.

However, here's an excerpt from a recent article, where Jeb makes, in my opinion, a rather powerful, and at this time seemingly bold, statement:

“After thoughtful consideration, I have decided not to run for the United States Senate in 2010. While the opportunity to serve my state and country during these turbulent and dynamic times is compelling, now is not the right time to return to elected office,” said Bush.

“In the coming months and years, I hope to play a constructive role in the future of the Republican Party, advocating ideas and policies that solve the pressing problems of our day,” he continued. “We must rebuild the Party by focusing on the common purposes and core conservative principles that unite us all – limited government, a strong national defense and safe homeland and the protection of liberty tempered by personal responsibility.”

***

Naturally, the principles cited are appealing. Unfortunately, by advocating party rebuilding without an emphasis on getting rid of the outdated perceptions shared by party members, we may find that the new GOP, should it emerge with any strength, is just an mundane attempt to gain majority support by (...as I flip through the Karl Rove play book) using ambiguous concepts to 1) keep, without offending, veteran members, 2) sidestep conjecture, and 3) recruit zealots under the guise that the party serves, and is the sole reservoir for, the ambitious.

I agree the republicans need to get back to their conservative roots.

As I was saying...

"If the Republicans can't break out of being the right wing party of big government, then I think you would see a third party movement in 2012," Gingrich reportedly said. (CNN)

Thanks, but no thanks to your "Reaganesque principles", you can have them. You are entitled to your opinion of course, but to describe Fox news as fair and balanced is a joke in itself. You also sound like you are very full of yourself, as are many Repugs. Yes, my views may be liberal, but I'm hardly emotional, childlike or weak.

The Republican party needs only to return to its Reaganesque principals of small gov't, strong defense and peronal accountability which it lost under Bush. The Dem/Livberals will self-destruct because they are emotional, childlike and weak. Dem/Libs never win elections, conservatives lose them

As for FOX mews - every objective poll ranks it the most fair amd balanced - not to mention they draw move viewers than MSNBC and CNN combined.

Short but sweet Marc since I have only a minute. The Party will be back if & only if the colleges hire at least a 50/50 ratio of Prof. Dem. & Rep. so the past 10 years or more of brain washing students to be Liberals & denouncing unfairly any conservative. It's being done even in the lower grades, Jr. High, & Highschool in California on a daily basis. All through the country at the college level. If this continues there will no longer be an America I'm sad to say.
If you would watch Hannety & O'Rrilly you would get the facts & most people don't get that & have en't a clue that the News Media promote untruths.
