| Micheal Phelps smoked weed? Wow should we just execute this drug lord on the spot or what? it is all so ridiculous. Marijuana is far less deadly than tobacco or alcohol, yet people act like it is crack or something. Marijuana laws are so outdated, it is so stupid. How many of you knew how many uses Hemp has? over 300! Or that in the early years of the last century, that the giant tobacco companies successfully lobbied congress to ban Weed and Hemp? the reason: Hemp would have cut into the insane profits Big Tobacco made. So now people are treating one of the greatest athletes in our generation like a pariah, why? He is a 23 year old kid who is a millionaire and he is just having a little fun. Besides how many of us haven't tried it at least once? There is nothing wrong with Marijuana; people who say "Pot makes you lazy" are just a bunch of lazy ass motherfuckers who are to lazy to get off the couch and find it convenient to blame Weed for their problems. I am so sick to death of it all, people need to just shut the fuck up and worry about themselves. actually it is the Marijuana haters who should probably spark a blunt, these people spend so much time with their nose up other people's asses, worrying what other people are doing instead of just minding their own business about what other people do. So what now? is Micheal Phelps suddenly this horrible person because he smoked weed or does smoke weed? Come on, this is getting pretty stupid. |

Show Oldest FirstThere are negative side affects to everything, though. And yes it is illegal. It would be no different than an ungerage celebrity getting caught on camera drinking. He just needs to watch his back.
The public, however, only takes in the fact that its illegal and therefore must be horriable, when really its just an herb no worse than the herbs in their herbal tea!
No it’s not horrible, just illegal. If you don’t like that then call your congressmen and donate to a group that lobbies to repeal the marijuana laws. Do I follow every law? NO but I'm not in the public eye.
when really its just an herb no worse than the herbs in their herbal tea!
One thing that I like are the facts of any argument. Despite popular belief, there have been studies that show there are negative effects of Marijuana use.
NIDA InfoFacts: Marijuana

For once I actually agree with you Ryan! Pot has many health benefits and he could be doing worse, like many other athletes, and be using steroids. The public, however, only takes in the fact that its illegal and therefore must be horriable, when really its just an herb no worse than the herbs in their herbal tea! I do see what Navy Rob is saying and Phelps is now a celebrity and unfortuantly was caught on camera. There are consequences to every action and he needs to watch what he does in the public eye.
I am not saying that P:helps should not be responsible, did I say that? i was merely stating that the laws were a bit outdated and I thought it was stupid that people were so down on him.
Ok Ryan I never said that you did. The point that was making was that no mater how outdated you feel these laws are they are still laws. Since he is a “roll model” he needs to make better choices, at least in a situation where somebody can catch you in the act. Now as much as I respect your opinion that this is being overblown, you should respect my right to tell my kids (my 5 and 7 year olds) that he is a loser. Now during my teens I smoked pot and dabbled with coke and meth but I stopped that when I went on active duty. I will let my kids know I did these but I will also stress how stupid I was. Overall the public has the right to react how they feel fit.
how many of Bush's cabient posting were perfect?
That was just a playful dig. Even you have to see irony in a tax evader in charge of IRS.

He did apologize. Who took the picture? I didn't catch that part and how much was the payout? Opportunity knocked!
wow dude, tell me something. how many of Bush's cabient posting were perfect? none! I am not saying that P:helps should not be responsible, did I say that? i was merely stating that the laws were a bit outdated and I thought it was stupid that people were so down on him. I also believe his is taking responsibility for his actions, where did I say he wasn't. Again, I really like people like you, who twist shit to make it fit your own neeeds. As I stated before, more GOP bullshit!
Michael Phelps has chosen to live his life in the public eye. Nobody forced him to turn his swimming into a career. Granted I’m sure he swims because he loves to do it; however I would be willing to bet that he enjoys the paycheck from his sponsors just as much. Unfortunately because of his choice, he is held to a higher standard (no matter if it fair or not). Now with that being said he broke the law. No matter what your or my personal beliefs are the plane fact is that he broke the law. The bigger fact is that he was stupid enough to be caught on camera smoking pot. Now does this make him a horrible person? Not at all, however his sponsors have the right choose who represents their company. Bottom line is he should accept the consequences of his actions. On a side note since the President appointed a tax evader as the head of the treasury department; Michael Phelps now qualifies to run the office of drug czar.

Not sure if you ever read this TAC article: NORML

Like I said he was stupid enough to allow himself to be caught on film.
