A great first week!

| Wow Wow Wow! In one week Obama is making it clear to all of us that he intends to keep his campaign promises and bring real change to our great nation. For those of you that were too busy watching "American Idol"to pay any attention to the real world, Barack has been busy. Signing an act that bans torture (Water boarding, etc) and ordering the closing of Guantanamo Bay Prison within a year, our new president is making it clear that we cannot sacrifice our ideals to preserve our freedom. We can defend ourselves without resorting to terrorist tactics ourselves, something the Bush administration never got. Obama also overturned Bush's ban of giving money to agencies that even mention the word abortion in parental planning. Let the Women choose for themselves and let's stop wasting time of this non crucial issue! it was also refreshing to hear that researchers are going to be ready to go by this summer to start stem cell testing, something that was impossible till Bush went away. Stem cell research promises so much that if it can deliver on 20% of it's promises, the world will be a much better place. I love how Obama is charging forward, he embraces the monumental task before him and in the end, I firmly believe he is the instrument of change that our generation has been lacking for so long. This man is one of us, the first public official that our generation (the 20 somethings) embraced in such a large way by so many people of all walks of life. I am also encouraged by how the new prez reminds us that he is not a savior but that we all must work together to make once great nation whole again. The chance is now, my fellow Americans! The time is now to be the people and nation that we were meant to be! |
