Health Care Reform - Fear Not

I think it's evident that health care reform is on our heels. Contrary to much of the opinion out there, I'm all for it. While the right feels a public option should not be included, I'm also for a public option. If you think of health care in the big picture, it shouldn't be a system that fosters a winners and losers environment. At present, there are many losers, which is very unfortunate. These losers are the people whose premium costs are raised because of their conditions and those who are outright cancelled from their policies because it's no longer a winning scenario for the insurer. Winners are actuaries and people that don’t get sick. Granted, even if health care costs are to blame in some situations, to compensate for rising costs, we can't have a heartless system where hospitals have financial departments to place a lien on your home prior to providing you a surgery. Now if socialized health care is the solution, then so be it. What's always amazed me about the capitalist system is that the people that fear shared benefits are usually puppets for those that reap the rewards of a winner-loser system, yet these people aren't making anything off of the deal anyways. I always ask why someone wouldn’t stand for a fairer system that everyone would benefit from. Even they would save. I guess until your health and finances are at stake from a single blow could an opponent of health-care-for-all really see the light in thorough reform. Many persons that suffer from ailments at an early age are plagued with a resultant financial burden for life. I shouldn’t win a Nobel for saying that situations like this can be avoided. If a public option requires all to buy in, then that's the way it has to be. Now we still could have an adequate system without a public option, but for many, including myself, the public options seems like the only hope there is for cost protection. Face it, without an employer-sponsored health plan, coverage is way too expensive in this economy. Having health care is like going to the casino. The casino wouldn't let you play unless they knew they were going to win. And furthermore, if you become a financial burden, they can refuse you the service, and they do it all the time to people. A public option might have a greater trickle-down effect, one that could actually influence provider (hospital and doctor) fees. I've noticed that medical talent is available. There are persons from throughout the world (e.g., India, Mexico) that will work as a doctor for a modest rate. So then, let's welcome them along with programs for converting foreign medical talent/education to US standards. I don't need an expensive doctor, I just need licensed health care. And in this age of information, care is more standardized than ever before, so you would think costs should decrease as information and practice normalizes. Let's standardize the insurance costs and then, in turn, make the rest flex and standardize the provider and equipment fees to pave the way for healthy, not in-the-poor-house, families---a stronger generation and economy, a stronger US. |

Are you stupid...
You say; "I've noticed that medical talent is available. There are persons from throughout the world (e.g., India, Mexico) that will work as a doctor for a modest rate. So then, let's welcome them along with programs for converting foreign medical talent/education to US standards."
How dare you compare 3rd would countries medical experience against any American MD. Do you know the education level and skill experience in these countries? Why do you think the US
has drawn major & critical illness patients from all over the world to our hospitals & medical care facilities like the big Mayo Clinic & other well known facilities, etc?
It is because we perform better medical practices with better results. The pecking-order of high-priced doctors and those who have specialized have become well known only because they are good at what they do. I totally disagree with you.
The President Obama legislation for Health Care is apparent in the election results, as is the following information that I want everyone to understand.
Facts for you to understand are presented below by a professor
who documented this information. He is Joseph Olson, PhD.
Professor Joseph Olson
Hamline University School of Law
St. Paul, Minnesota
Dr. Olson discovered some interesting facts concerning the Presidential election results after it was over!
Number of States won by: Obama: 19 / McCain: 29
Sq-miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 / McCain: 2,427,000
Population won by: Obama: 127 million / McCain: 143 million
The Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Obama: 13.2 / McCain: 2.1
Professor Olson stated the following;
The map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.
Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare.
Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.
How does this impact your wordy explanation of health care? I think there is a gross exaggeration and frenzy of people to want to change Health Care as we know it to another social expense program + welfare burden without any improvements.
I am very sad and hope the Supremo Court will stop this!
Sadly, I feel this is a gross injustice tp all Americans.
Listen to Palin. These are the types of words I would expect from a student protester or other disgruntled pedestrian, but not a presidential hopeful. Palin is just trash.
"Washington has broken faith with the people that they are to be serving," Palin told the crowd, which numbered in the thousands. Palin said the message to government leaders was "loud and clear." "The big government, the big debt, Obama-Pelosi-Reid spending spree is over. You're fired," she said, prompting cheers from the crowd. (CNN)
And this is the title of her recent protest campaign, "Showdown in Searchlight"? Who talks like that beside hunters and rural Americans. Why would we want a leader that prides herself on hunting euphemisms? She's just plain disgusting. And when you hear her speak, it sound's like she's a ward patient on medication or something.
Is her daughter on Medicaid?
I agree. What are you getting angry about? It was all politicians goal, health care, education, and economy. True colors are showing folks! Someone here where I live has imposed an idea. Organizing a shootout ! That's right and it's beginning to look like WAR . The people that do these kinds of moves think about it and ask yourself. Are they really AMERICANS ? Do background checks and do it soon.
Do what you can to stop your dismayed republican friends and family members from starting civil war.
Health care reform anger takes a nasty, violent turn (CNN)
Seriously, I want to know what these angry people are so mad about. What do they have to loose versus gain? I can't help but think they really don't think about these things and are really just using health care reform as an excuse to manifest hate toward Obama. That sounds most logical to me.
And worst of all, it's the many-of-the-GOP's favorite, one and only Sarah Palin, posting a map with weapon crosshairs targeting demoncratic districts.

This example shows yet again exactly why Palin is no good for the US. She's good for herself and idiots that would love to have a hand in starting another civil war.
It's obvious the people in this picture are more concerned with being Obama haters than being thoughtful.

I'm pretty sure Sean Hannity and his 1 million followers believe this guy is a great American.

Yeah, this pretty much sums up the GOP. Want these folks running your country?

Courteously remember, this could be you. And you could be denied affordable care.

Is it me, or do these people seem like they've actually thought about the issues?

Here are people that actually care about their fellow American's welfare, as our President does. I'd rather call them great Americans.

Hey Stableman..go to factcheck.org or snopes and check out your so called facts on the election you posted. Guess what??..FALSE. You ask Marc if he is stupid, well to me it's pretty stupid to not check out your so called facts before you post them...but then again, it's only the truth according to the "so called" right that matters to them.
