I am an American

I am an American who is tired of what has happened to my country during the last eight years. I am an American who loves my country, who is patriotic, who cares about the American way of life and the freedoms that come with it. I support the troops. I am an American who is tired of seeing that way of life threatened and of the undermining of our Constitution. For all of the preaching from the current administration about doing away with big government, I have never felt more powerless as an American citizen in my life. I am tired of an administration that advocates lies and secrecy, keeping the truth from the American people. I am appalled of the abuse of power by this administration. I am appalled by the gall of this administration in questioning the patriotism of anyone that doesn’t agree with them. I am tired of reading the newspaper about soldiers being killed in Iraq for no good reason, and the lies that led to that war. While believing that the Afghanistan invasion was worthy and necessary, I am saddened for mothers that cry themselves to sleep at night over the loss of the children that they will never be able to hold again and grandchildren that will never be born. I am an American that is worried for the future of my children and grandchildren. I am worried about the debt that will fall on their shoulders due to the failed policies and uncontrolled spending of this administration. I am tired of the denigration of our standing in the rest of the world. Once we were a beacon of hope and light to countries around the world. A country to be admired for it’s principles and human dignity, a country that now advocates torture, making us no better than our enemies. The tone of the Bush presidency has become increasingly imperial with his “I don’t have to answer to anyone” attitude. There is no longer a system of checks and balances, which were put in place for a reason. I am tired of having a president who is a virtual laughingstock. I want a president that can pronounce the word “nuclear” and doesn’t speak with a cowboy mentality. It was admirable for John Wayne, but not for an American president. I am an American who will not be voting for John McCain on Nov. 4th. I cannot vote for a man that has voted with this president 90% of the time. I cannot vote for a man that wants more deregulation of industry, one being the insurance industry. If you think you have a problem now talking with someone in India about your computer problem, just wait until you have to try to get a health insurance claim settled with them. Try to get insurance with a pre-existing condition if this law is passed (H.R. 5480), it won’t happen. Deregulation is not working, unfortunately, there is to too much greed in this world. We need that system of check and balances. While thanking John McCain for his service to our country and what he went through as a prisoner of war, I cannot vote for him because I feel it would be more of the same. I cannot vote for him because of his vice-presidential choice. While charming she may be, not in my opinion, up for that job. I’ve heard and seen much about John McCain’s anger issues, and no longer want anger and the rush to judgment that comes from angry people. I cannot vote for him because of the voter caging scheme by his campaign that happened recently. Trying to deprive people of their right to vote is not what an honorable man would do. It was like another trick out of Karl Rove’s playbook. I cannot vote for him because of the tone of his campaign, where I hear nothing about issues..only smear tactics. This is a time when our country needs to come together, instead we are being more divided. Not a man that I want for the president of my country. I cannot vote for him because we need change, and we need it now. I am an American that will be voting for Barak Obama on Nov, 4th. I’ve heard much touted about his supposed inexperience, but I’m willing to bet that he will learn quickly and wisely. I feel that he will be more thoughtful in his decisions and of the consequences of those decisions than John McCain would be. The current administration was supposed to have that (so called) experience, and look at the mess that we are in right now. I want someone that will care about the future of my grandchildren and not about how much money his insurance and oil industry friends will be making. I want someone who cares about this earth, our environment and the endangerment of the species that God put on this earth. Someone that’s realizes that nature has it’s own system of checks and balances that are quickly being done away with by man and his quest to make more money. I could go on and on about the injustices that I feel have taken place during the last eight years, but find that there are too many for me to list or remember. I am an American that is looking forward to the change, that I feel we so desperately need. I feel that change will come with the election of Barak Obama and Joe Biden on Nov. 4th. Show Oldest FirstHey Stableman...I'm very happy. I'm not however very happy with being called a stupid little mindless jerk because of my presidential choice. I am sorry, I do not consider McCain a hero. He has been a spoiled brat his entire life and has way too many anger issues to be considered a hero in my book. I believe the country has made a wise choice in electing Obama. I was not seduced by image and advertising appeal. I really believe Obama was the best choice for president. (Besides the thought of Palin as possible president if something happened to McCain scared the crap out of me)Obama is intelligent, has common sense, and really seems to be an all around good guy. Yes...I'm very happy.

I hope your happy now?
You got it.
Only in America can the people make a decision for all of us. Majority rules!
When has it ever been proven that the majority can make
the right decision, (for all) etc?
We had a shot to elect someone who was a real hero and
devoted a lifetime toward serving America.
You stupid little mindless jerk, (all of you) etc...
You were seduced by image, talk and advertising appeal of a little known senator, etc.
Now we will see what happens.
I hope you were right.

Very well written article.
In my earlier post..I meant Palin didn't know Africa is a continent..not Alaska. Sorry!!!
Hey Ryan..I agree with you 100%. Obama speaks and makes sense..for a change. 8 years of BS...done..no more for me. GO OBAMA!!!
Hey Ryan,,the best part about it is...the Wasilla hillbilly goes home. Hofefully to never to darken our doorways again. The idiot that she was...McCains campaign said she didn't know Alaska was a continant. I was taught that in public grammar school. But, then again..they supposedly vetted her..checked her out from top to botttom. Aren't you glad they are not in charge. I know that I am!!!!
Oh..and I try to be nice..usually. BUT HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAH.YOU LOSE. Ok,,had to get that off of my chest. Hey Cali..enjoy Mexico.
Cheney and Bush have done exactly what Osama bin Laden wanted more than
anything ... to drive America into a financial hole and ruin our stock
market. To bankrupt us.
Who NEEDS terrorists when we already have an administration
accomplishing THEIR goals?
Ironic ... dontcha think? Gotta go vote. Enjoy!
Well, I happen to think McCain supporters are blind. The terrorist thing is getting old and didn't work any way so get over it.

I understand that McCain didn't win and you must be upset. Still, there is no reason to say such things about those that voted for Obama. (Take a clue from McCain's fantastic concession speech.) You don't know me or why I voted. I could accuse you of being seduced by image as well. "John McCain=American Hero" For the record I liked what McCain had to say in 2000 and had he run this campaign himself the election would have been closer. He proved to the world that he could not handle the financial crisis or even run an effective campaign. He hired the Karl Rove team that destroyed him in 2000...that is when he showed his judgment to me. I'm happy with the way Obama has put his transition team together. He is proving everyday that he was the right choice. The reason I voted for Obama was because I wanted A SMART GOVERNMENT. It looks like that is what we're going to get.
