Show Oldest FirstThe question was how do you feel about Franklin's quote, as it pertains to Obama's politics, and the willingness to give up liberties to feel "secure"?

Sorry again. I am not trying to give you a round-a-bound answer as you call it. To me Bush and McCain are pretty much one and the same. I really can't tell much of a difference between them at all.
Sorry..paging back to the top I see you are asking why I am voting for Obama. I think I explained that in my article "I am an American".
It certainly seems as though you are pro McCain. But, what is the question you want an answer to?
The thing is, you are assuming I support McCain and Bush. But the truth is, I do not. I have never said McCain is the best candidate, because he is not. And Bush has done a horrible job. So lets please stop using the Bush/McCain round-a-bound answer, and answer the question relevant to what it referenced.

There are many, many more.
How do I feel about that quote...I feel that much liberty has been given up in the last eight years in the name of security. The Bush administration has trampled our constitution, all in the name of their so called "war on terror" and anything else they decided they want to do that wasn't allowed. Just change the rules, that is their motto. As far as the candidates tax plans go, I have read much by many different economists and they all give Obama's plan the thumbs up over McCains.
Even if you were right, which I know you aren't, a tax cut should be the least of our worries in this country. We have a defecit the likes of which this country has never seen. I would be more than willing to pay more and do my small part to try and offset it. The uncontrolled spending by the Bush administration has caused this crisis. McCain will not be any different than the last 8 yrs. There are many other issues besides the economy that I am also concerned with. I early voted for Obama last Friday..so the point is mute.
Sandy, how do you feel when you read this quote?
"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." - Benjamin Franklin
Could you please tell me where I am "wrong"?

I do not feel that I would be giving up any liberties as it pertains to Obama's politics. I feel that by having Obama as president that I would be regaining liberties that have been lost in the last 8yrs. I feel that someone will be in the white house that will protect and defend our constitution once again. So..no I do not feel that I would be giving up liberties to feel secure. Not in the least.
