Revolutionary Road

To be blunt, if your a twenty-something struggling for the meaning of life, then you have to watch this movie. The acting was tremendous, I've never seen DiCaprio or Winslet do a better job, and that's saying something. I have always thought that Leo especially, never really got his due. Director Sam Mendes brings out the best in his actors, scene after scene of tension that moves the movie forward. The story itself, about a 1950s couple with two children who are realizing that the American Dream is not what they thought it was (i.e., White picket fence, two car garage, etc) and attempt to make a radical change in their lives, captures you, how can it not? in today's world, so many of my friends married and had children so young, now they are at a crossroads in their lives, unsure if they made the right decisions but can't change it. We are all creatures of habit, and for most of us, the grass is always greener until you get there, second guessing ourselves is what we do best. It is important to remember that no matter how old we are or the choices we make, in the end we are all masters of our own destiny and life is what you make it.
